from my heart to yours.

As world events and the human experience intensify on all fronts, it’s more essential than ever to stay connected—to our own hearts, to each other’s hearts, and to the collective heart.

“Dare to connect with your heart. You will be lifting not only yourself and those you love and care about, but also the world in which you live.”

-Doc Childre, HeartMath Founder

As world events and the human experience intensify on all fronts, it’s more essential than ever to stay connected—to our own hearts, to each other’s hearts, and to the collective heart.

If we look to Indigenous teachings, the heart has long been recognized as the spiritual center of the body—the seat of unconditional love and an energetic portal connecting us to higher universal consciousness. And yet, in Western cultures, we often relegate the heart to its physical function alone: a pump that moves blood through the body. In doing so, we overlook the vast intelligence it holds in uplifting our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

According to the HeartMath Institute:

“The heart produces by far the body’s most powerful rhythmic electromagnetic field, which can be detected several feet away by sensitive instruments. Research shows our heart’s field changes distinctly as we experience different emotions. It is registered in people’s brains around us and apparently is capable of affecting cells, water, and DNA studied in vitro.”

So where do we begin this important work? It may start simply—by placing both hands on your chest, gently pressing your palms into your heart space, taking a deep breath, and feeling the presence that’s available within you. Can you sense the energetic emanations from this powerful center in your body? What does it feel like to sit quietly, breathe, and attune to your own heartbeat? Let yourself remember: this connection is always here.

Bring forth positive feelings like love, appreciation, and compassion for a person, place, or circumstance in your life. Hold that feeling in your heart and notice how your overall state begins to shift. Go deeper by asking if your heart has any wisdom to share with you. Allow any messages to flow through without being filtered by your mind. Trust that what you are hearing, sensing, and feeling carries real meaning and value for you.

Each time you engage in heart-centered awareness, you deepen your relationship with yourself, your physical body, and the world around you. This practice cultivates presence, compassion, and a sense of belonging that ripples far beyond you. Commit to a daily ritual of returning to your heart—and invite others to join you. Here are a few of my favorite personal practices:

  • Restorative yoga

  • Heart coherence meditation

  • Stream of consciousness journaling

  • Taking a mindful walk in nature

  • Spending time in deep rest, no technology, just being

  • Preparing a self-led cacao ceremony

  • Sharing a heart-nourishing conversation or meal

The more calm, coherence, and connection we cultivate in our own hearts, the more we bring those qualities into how we respond to daily stress, communicate with others, and make choices. Over time, this inner alignment starts to shift how we live—less reactive, more present, and better able to handle what life throws our way. It becomes a reliable foundation we can return to, no matter what’s happening around us.
